Yesterday I wrote about your streetwear brand as the art gallery.
Today, you're the curator.
An art curator has a very special job.
Their platform is the art gallery.
Of the many works that come their doors
the curator decides what's hung on the wall and what isn't.
How do they decide?
The truth is... I don't know lots about curators.
But from the little I can observe, the decision comes down to two things:
Here's the thing:
You are a curator.
Just as the curator has their gallery, you have an Instagram page.
Your job as a curator comes down to:
defining a theme
(In other words, the lifestyle behind your clothing)
then filtering content through that theme.
Is it relevant?
Is it on theme?
Is it more than clothing?
My point is this:
There's more to curation than "good" art and "bad" art.
Or "good" clothing and "bad" clothing.
Curation gives you to opportunity to clearly and consistently communicate the reason you are here.
And! what kind of community you would like out here with you.
Truly,
Elijah
