Yesterday, I wrote about the importance of creating long-form content within your streetwear brand.
Thus, I make a case for starting a branded podcast.
It's not the ONLY way to create long-form, but it is A way that's relatively quick and easy for any brand of any size.
But starting a podcast poses the question....
What would you talk about?
The truth is this:
I believe you'd struggle to talk about your garments for 30-60 mins, once a week.
It's safe to say you'd run out of conversation points quite quickly.
Not to mention, with a lack of any real depth or substance, listeners would quickly lose interest.
Therefore, creating a podcast forces you to find the substance in your brand;
The meaning beyond the garment;
The story that remains the same despite the many 10s of products that come and go;
The lifestyle embodied when someone proudly wears your brand mark.
See if this helps:
Ask yourself the question...
Who is the one person that best embodies my brand?
Then go a little deeper...
What specifically about them is aligned with my message and branding?
Invite that person onto zoom
and speak about their personality traits,
beliefs,
values,
and most importantly,
the stories that bring meaning to all of the above.
THAT is a conversation of real substance.
And one that you can have with many different people
in 100 different ways.
