Value Motivation

Values, more times than not, motivate what your customers do and especially what they buy.

I love to run because of the positive effects it has on my mental state - I feel good.

Therefore, I am motivated by intrinsic values - the motivation comes from within.

James loves to run because he'll be accepted by his fitness buddies.

Therefore, James is motivated by extrinsic values - the motivation comes from a desire for friendship (an exterior source).

What your prospects buy is often motivated by extrinsic values - their reputation, validation, and who they will become once owning or wearing your product.

Give them an extrinsic reason to wear your clothing.

Who do they become when they wear your brand as their t-shirt?

Stop selling t-shirts.

Start selling an idea, and the t-shirts will sell themselves.
