As a once content creator for other businesses and current content creator for my own business, I've always struggled with consistency.
It's the tension between making lots of stuff and making the best stuff.
I want to make lots of stuff! Because lots of stuff = more chances that it gets seen.
AND
I want to make the best stuff! Because the best stuff = people like it and want to come back for more.
Here's the thing:
In order to make lots of the best stuff, I would need a large team.
Videographers, photographers, editors, all on full-time wages.
And at that point, I don't think it's worth it anymore.
If you're anything like the streetwear brands I work with, the same is true for you.
You want both, but you don't have the large team to pull it off.
See if this helps:
Maybe the key to consistency is not making is much as you could make, and also being okay that it's not your best work.
I know you wish you could make more.
And I know you could make it better.
But striving for either of those things would cost you precious eyes,
and striving for both could cost you your whole streetwear brand.
So here's today's reminder:
You don't need to make the most stuff
You don't need to make the best stuff.
Just make some stuff that's pretty good.
Find you balance in between.
Truly,
Elijah
