Yvon Chouinard, the CEO of patagonia, said he was going to give away his multi-billion dollar company for the funds to be used to fight the climate crisis.
And that he did.
Here's the thing:
Patagonia shows us the true purpose of business.
Because it isn't to make a profit,
or make the highest quality clothing,
or become No.1.
Rather the true purpose of business is to better the human race.
And a company's profits simply allow them to sustain themselves so they may continue forward doing good.
My point is this:
I'm not suggesting you become a charity. It probably better, in fact, that you don't.
But I do want to challenge your perspective of what doing business is...
Because we start thinking and dreaming with a 'giving' mindset,
we build real communities,
we create clothing brands that do more good than harm,
and ultimately,
see real success in every sense.
(in every single sense of the word)
Here to help,
Elijah
