When I was in school we learnt about a number of paragraph structures to help our writing.
PEEL
TEEL
You may have heard of them. Or maybe not.
Just imagine an acronym to help you dominate the page and you'll get the idea.
My main takeaway was this:
A paragraph must start with your point and end with a link.
Even this email follows that structure!
Above there is a header, and below a link (although I'm yet to write it. I hope it's there!).
Here's the thing:
Instagram for streetwear brands is a lot like these paragraph structures.
Start with a point.
Forget the WHAT, the product, the specifics.
This is your WHY.
The lifestyle, culture, or ideology that gives your brand meaning.
And just like the top of a paragraph, the point written in a nicely concise sentence in your Instagram bio for all newcomers to see.
Then comes the link.
And you should always link back.
It explores the point a little further.
It builds upon the nicely concise sentence in your bio and to tells us what it means and how it looks.
It's all the things you post!
Each and everyone should link back to the point.
And just like that
(here comes my link)
you have the foundations of a solid paragraph.
Truly,
Elijah
