I started posting every day and my engagement went down

If you start posting every single day,

although your overall engagement will go up,

your per-post engagement will go down

and that can be worrying.

But there is something that you should know that will take all fear from your system about loss of engagement...

I was with a client on this exact issue:

Let's call him "Luca".

When Luca and I began working together, we uncovered his brand message and turned into broad content ideas he could create from every single day.

And that's exactly what he did - posting every single day whether there was a clothing drop or not.

But it all went wrong!

Because of his new daily posting routine, some of his photos and videos weren't being seen by segments of his audience.

What worried Luca most of all was the thought of a loss of engagement leading up to a clothing drop. That thought was enough to consider going back to his sporadic posting routine.

When Lucca asked me about it, I said this:

You could go back to your sporadic, occasional content routine, posting only when you have a clothing drop. And chances are, you would appear in front of close to 100% of your followers.

In other words, there is a short-term loss immediately after switching to daily.

But are you prepared to sacrifice the accelerated growth and, over time, over taking your current per-post engagement?

100% of 100 follows is still less than 50% of 300.

My point is this:

If you're building anything that's intended last beyond a few clothing drops

it's in your best interest to start growing tomorrow's audience, today.

Short term losses lead to long term wins.

Elijah
