How To Niche Down (as a fashion brand)

Niching down is the single most financially beneficial thing you can do for your streetwear brand.

However, it is one of the most difficult for many.

It requires you to take a leap of faith

and overcome the many objections to the idea.

So I hope to make it a little easier by giving you three types of niches you can apply to your streetwear brand.

These aren't the only types, but they are good ones.

TYPE 1: Ideological - A belief system

For example, Revelation Apparel has Christian ideologies at its centre, targeting believers in Jesus.

Or Seek Discomfort, that sells the idea of facing your fears and getting outside your comfort zone.

TYPE 2: Ethos - A culture or attitude

Supreme reflects downtown New York City culture through its product and marketing.

And Patagonia encourages an attitude of living sustainably.

TYPE 3: Lifestyle - An interest, activity, or general attitude to life

Nike sells the lifestyle of an athlete,

and Adidas sells the lifestyle of a skater.

See if this helps:

Take 30 seconds to choose one of these niche types,

hit reply to this email,

and tell me which one you chose.

Go a little deeper and tell me, specifically, which niche community your brand would embody.

And if you've already got an idea, hit reply anyway.

Maybe I can help you clarify it a little.

Here to help,

Elijah

P.S. Think of replying as accountability. I want you to succeed and I believe niching down is one thing that'll help you do exactly that. If you're serious about getting better, hit reply (warts and all) :)
