Generosity in business isn't to be 'nice'.
Nor is it corporate social responsibility - when a company, for example, publicizes their sustainable practises out of obligation or to look good.
And it isn't a garment give away from your latest collection.
Generosity is the foundation of the business world itself.
The whole reason business works is because it supports our economy.
In other words, it gives more than it takes!
And when it doesn't, it doesn't work.
Think about it like this:
Generosity by my definition is: when you give from your own resource to benefit another.
Again, this doesn't mean freebies.
But generosity may mean asking yourself "will they like this?" instead of "how many likes will this get?" before posting.
It may look like creating a garment that will last instead of one that requires them to buy another.
Or generosity may be creating a club for the members - a community for the customers.
Here's the kicker:
Notice I didn't finish those sentences with "...in order to sell more garments"
For some, this is a hard pill to swallow.
But by entering the world of business, you signed up to abide by it's laws,
the most fundamental of all being generosity.
Here to help,
Elijah
P.S. I know what you're thinking... What does this have to do with fashion? Well, the streetwear brands that give the best, win the best. I don't make the rules.
