Authenticity is a bit of a buzzword.
It's one that we use a lot to describe some streetwear brands and devalue others (as inauthentic).
However, when a word is used so frequently on all corners of the globe, it can start to lose it's meaning.
So here's my working definition...
Authenticity: When a streetwear brand appears as who they say they are.
In other words, your brand becomes "authentic" when that brand identity written on a piece of paper in the bottom of your desk comes reaches the public eye through the content you produce.
Or on the contrary, an inauthentic brand may be one who says they are "more than clothing" or "a lifestyle" though only make content about their clothing.
They are, in that case, not who they say they are.
My point is this:
If you desire your brand to be "more than clothing"
and say that it is "more than clothing"
clearly and consistently SHOW us how and why
through every piece of content you create.
Truly,
Elijah
