Chief Community Officer

Recently I shared that your role in cultivating community

should come before that of being CEO.

That cultivating community is not a side gig

but the whole point!

And thus, I name the role of the Chief Community Officer (CCO)

Whose job it is to:

  • Bring vision to the community
  • Lead from the top by listening to the bottom
  • Give the community reason and purpose
  • Remind their community of that reason and purpose
  • Stand for something bigger than themselves
  • Make every output an expression of the community
  • Gather like-minded individuals

And finally, the moment you've been waiting for...

  • Give their members the tangible to represent the intangible. In other words, the clothing to represent the greater idea.

My point is this:

A streetwear industry with less shifty-salespeople and more CCOs is one where streetwear brands are wildly profitable and customers get more than they paid for.

And anyway, let's be real...

CCO just has a nice ring to it.

And if for no other reason, than for that!

Truly,

Elijah
